Prepare an end-of-tenancy clean
To prepare an end-of-tenancy clean, describe the property, its condition and the planned key handover date. Ask for the included tasks to be specified room by room and coordinate cleaning with furniture removal. A cleaning quote alone does not establish that every condition of your property handover is covered.
Organise the cleaning and handover
- List the rooms and additional areas: kitchen, bathrooms, windows, shutters, balcony, cellar or other spaces. Give approximate areas and identify the appliances present.
- Describe visible condition and particular items: oven, extractor, marks on windows or delicate surfaces. Include focused photographs instead of describing everything as “normal condition”.
- Say when the property will be empty, how the company will gain access and whether water and electricity will be available. Confirm these arrangements before the visit.
- Provide the handover date and relevant written instructions you received. Ask whether attendance at handover or follow-up cleaning is offered, and on what terms.
Check what the proposal covers
Compare surfaces, appliances, glazing, shutters and additional areas. Ask about exclusions and extra requests. If the quote mentions a “guarantee”, ask for its scope, limits, reporting deadline and contact person in writing. Distinguish cleaning from repairing damaged items and removing belongings.
Mistakes to avoid
- Leaving a cellar, balcony or shutters out of the description.
- Scheduling cleaning before furniture has actually left without agreeing on it.
- Inferring tenancy obligations or acceptance of the property from the cleaning quote alone.
Documents to prepare
- A description of the rooms and additional areas to clean.
- Recent photographs and relevant handover instructions, with unnecessary personal details hidden.
- Planned moving and handover dates, plus access arrangements.
Prepare your project
State the services you need and any points still to confirm in your request. If furniture removal is still to be organised, also prepare the details of your move.
